Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Jeeah’s Hope?

A: Jeeah’s Hope is an adoption and foster care support ministry. Our goal is join with and support local families within the Chattahoochee Valley who are willing to answer God’s call to care for the fatherless. We do this in several ways. First, we host support groups, developmental opportunities, and family fun events where foster and adoptive families can get together for fellowship to encourage and support each other. We provide pastoral care and professional counseling services to families in need. We also offer various programs and training opportunities to help families learn more about the challenges and opportunities they face with adoption and foster care. Finally, we also offer matching grants and covenant loans to help defray the costs of adoption.

Q: Where did the name “Jeeah” come from?

A: Elllie Jeeah Carlisle was adopted from South Korea by Chance and Emily Carlisle in July 2009. Jee Ah was Ellie’s Korean name, given to her by her young Korean birth mother. Her birth mother chose her name because it meant Knowledge and Flower. Jeeah’s Hope is named in memory of precious Ellie Jeeah Carlisle (2008-2010).

Q: Is Jeeah’s Hope a Tax-Exempt Organization?

A: Jeeah’s Hope is a tax-exempt organization, incorporated with the IRS under section 501(c)(3) of the tax code. Tax-deductible donations can be made to Jeeah’s Hope HERE on our site, or by sending a check to Jeeah’s Hope at P.O. Box 492, Pine Mountain, GA 31822.

Q: Is Jeeah’s Hope connected to any specific church or denomination?

A: No. Jeeah’s Hope is a Christ-centered and Bible-based organization, but we are not exclusively connected to any one church or denomination. Members of our Ministry Team and Board attend a number of different churches in the area.

Q: Is Jeeah’s Hope an adoption or foster care agency?

A: Jeeah’s Hope is not a child-placing agency and does not place children for adoption or into foster homes.

Q: Is Jeeah’s Hope only for those who have adopted internationally?

A: No. The Jeeah’s Hope community of families is incredibly diverse. Jeeah’s Hope is for anyone connected to adoption or foster care. Some of our families have adopted internationally, while others have adopted domestically. Some have adopted older children while others have adopted newborns. In addition, some Jeeah’s Hope families are fostering, fostering-to-adopt, or have adopted children from foster care. If you have adopted or are fostering (or are exploring these life-altering adventures!) then Jeeah’s Hope wants to come alongside and journey with you.

Q: Can we get involved in Jeeah’s Hope even though we have not yet adopted?

A: Absolutely. In fact, we have many opportunities that are designed to provide support and encouragement specifically for those who are in the waiting process and for those considering adoption. Jeeah’s Hope also offers quarterly events where families come together for support and fellowship with other adoptive families. We also hold training opportunities that are designed for families waiting as well as those already home with children. This training touches on various topics such as bonding and attachment, belonging, behavioral issues, and many other ways to help the fatherless.

Q: I’m new to adoption or foster care, where should I start?

A: Adoption and foster care are amazing gifts; not only to the children being received, but also to the family who is blessed with a child! We believe there is no greater expression or display of the Gospel than adoption. It is, however, a journey with many challenges. We love to journey with families through the entire process, from the “praying/considering stage,” to the actual adoption process, to pre-adoption, waiting, placement, and post-adoption. Please email us at jeeahshope@gmail.com to schedule a phone call or meeting to discuss more! Also, you can check out our Resources page to access a number of links and articles online that can help you get started.
